what other drugs could he try before he has to go to immunosuppressives which he doesn't even want to consider because of his job.
My husband tried apriso worked okay for 6 days, then hives all over his body appeared?
Added 1 Mar 2010:
He hasn't been on any meds other than atenolol for blood pressure and had to stop all nsaids when diagnosed with uc 1 week prior to the reaction
Has your husband taken any of the following while on this drug?
Maybe this caused the hives?
What other drugs will affect Apriso?
Before taking Apriso, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs:
azathioprine (Imuran) or mercaptopurine (Purinethol);
pentamidine (Nebupent, Pentam);
amphotericin B (Fungizone, AmBisome, Amphotec, Abelcet);
antibiotics such as capreomycin (Capastat), rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane, Rifater), vancomycin (Vancocin, Vancoled);
antiviral medicines such as acyclovir (Zovirax), adefovir (Hepsera), cidofovir (Vistide), or foscarnet (Foscavir);
cancer medicine such as aldesleukin (Proleukin), carmustine (BiCNU, Gliadel), cisplatin (Platinol), ifosfamide (Ifex), oxaliplatin (Eloxatin), streptozocin (Zanosar), or tretinoin (Vesanoid); or
aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), diclofenac (Voltaren), diflunisal (Dolobid), etodolac (Lodine), flurbiprofen (Ansaid), indomethacin (Indocin), ketoprofen (Orudis), ketorolac (Toradol), mefenamic acid (Ponstel).
If so call your doctor and let him/her know what you took with this drug. Maybe this caused the hives.
