My husband had a double hernia repaired with a net several months ago and suffers with extreme pain since. Dr. says netting is still there and he might not have enough body fat . What is a solution to this problem. It is worse than before surgery?
Is this current doctor doing anything to help control the pain? In any event, I would seek a second opinion. Most people have surgery to repair a problem and have good results. Since your husband is worse off now than before surgery, have a talk with his doc and ask for a recommendation for a second opinion. You may want to find one on your own too. In either case, request copies of his medical information to bring with you to the new appt. I could understand a few weeks of discomfort but not several months. Did the doctor explain to you or know prior to the surgery that body fat may play a role in his recuperation? No one should suffer in pain for months after a procedure. Please seek a second opinion. Best wishes to you and hope your husband starts to feel better soon!
hi, i have had about 20 hernia's repaired they last one was in july and it was the most painful! i also had mesh and i got infected and was put back into the hospital a week after my surgery ! my surgeon has been giving me pain meds since then because of my pain!granted i am a chronic pain suffer and he knows this but this is a different pain .so he and i both feel that something else is needed ! and my pain doctors know at all times the meds i am on !
if your husband is still in pain he might want to go back to the doctor to make sure the mesh hasn't caused a infection.they can tell this by blood work white cell count will be up,also they can tell by pressing where the hernia was !and if your husband doesn't get on help from his doctor please tell him to get another doctor to see him .that is his right too see another doctor !i hope this has been of help and wish you both the best !
