Hello Robynmidge, I am kind of in the same boat as your grandson. O have many, many med probs, and cannot get healthcare because of pre-existing conditions and in the state I live in u cannot get meficaid unless u r pregnant, have a child under 1, or r blind. So I am on my own with dr. Visits and prescriptions. Do u have a Bi- Lo where he lives. If so 2 or 3 months ago they started a discount program for people like us. U sign up and they give u a card to present when u ick up meds. For instance I had a 30 day prescription that was gonna cost over hundred dollars to get filled every month. My discount card brought it all the way down to an even $10. And I use it and save bundles constantly. If there is no Bilo near him calll around to Sam's, Costcos, Walmart, Target, and any other pharmacies because i am sure if Bilo has it other places do too. Good luck. I hope i was of some help and your grandson finds a place that does that because it saved our finances. Anna
Have you heard of the 4$ deal through nationwide wal-marts and affiliated pharmacies now... you call up any wal-mart pharmacy and tell them the type of medication that you need and there is a chance that it will be on the 4$ list, now many things may effect this, one you may have to or he may have to deplete himself down to a generic, but in many instances they do the same and can be almost as strong... I am on this program and I take Celexa 40mg a day along with Klonopin/ .5mg a day or I may take two of those, now the generic names for both of those are, Citalopram/celexa, and Clonazepam/klonopin, I have even ended up with 500mg hydrocodone for reconstructive knee surgery at 4$. This program has been going on for years and it is a god sent, other pharmacies do participate, however they may not have as wide a range as wal-mart... check into it, see what you think, re-check this info with the md and make sure it can be an option which it should be and get back with me...
good luck to you.blaze22 i will talk with you again, I've had a couple of people in my family on those very drugs so I may be able to be of more help, but as you know I am not a helth professional, just self educated for 20 plus years, 43 now...
You can get the manufacturers phone numbers from the pharmacy and contact them. They generally have assistance programs for low income, no insurance individuals. You may also be able to get samples from your doctor until other arrangements are made.
Hope this helps,
