she has fibromyalsia. This seems like a lot of medication to be taking together and I am worried that this is damaging her body! Is this ok??
I agree with you farrell57 that does sound like way to much meds. You may want to talk to your friend about talking to their doctor. I hope that your friend doesn't get addicted because most of those drugs are addicting. Your friend could easily get a unpleasant reaction from all those meds mixing. I know Fibromyalgia is very painful at times because I have it too, but I am on Paxil and Vicodin as needed only for severe pain. The Paxil helps with depression and has an mild effect on the pain so I can at least stand some of it. Your friend might want to wean off some of that medicine and possibly try Neurontin for it also. Neurontin works on the nerves to slow down the reaction that is causes the pain. Muscle relaxers don't always do a whole lot because it is mainly nerve pain. Does your friend have depression also? 2 prozacs is alot depending on the mgs. especially with 3 xanax. I would question why so much. Good luck to your friend hope they can get off some of this definately sounds way to much stuff.
What may seem like a lot of meds to you, may not be at all for your friend. It all depends on the dosage and how severe her condition is. What if I told you I took one pain pill in the morning and 3 benzo's during the day. Your friend takes one 5mg vicodin in the morning and three .25 xanax during the day. Only my pain pill is 100mg demerol and my benzo is 10mg valium. You need to keep it in prospective. I'm assuming she gets her meds from the same doctor. Most doctors do not prescribe meds that their patients don't need. Just be a good friend to her. As far as the prozac, chronic pain leads to depression. Maybe you could suggest to her to see a pain specialist. They may be able to put her on an extended release pain med. Taking the vic's every day will lead to tolerance and having to keep upping the dosage. Good luck to your friend and it was nice of you to be concerned.
