I broke my neck and back 3 years ago and after several sergeries and every med known nothing works. Cant leave the house most days. My life is slipping away and I need a soloution. Feedback would be appreciated.
Comparing the two drugs at face value (at the same number of milligrams)the Opana (oxymorphone) is stonger than the Dilaudid (hydromorphone). But you didn't say how many milligrmas for the Opana compared to the 8 mgs Dilaudid so can't say for sure which would be better. Based on the information you've given, the Opana is stronger for pain relief.
Hope this helps,
Laurie is right, I have been on Dilaudid previously at the same milligram dose as you but I an currently on Opana, You didn't say what dose , of Opana the doc is willing to put you on, it comes in extended release Meaning that it stays in your system for 8 to 12 hours (the extended release tablets) they also make a shorter acting on the Opana I take the long acting, Dilaudid is a drug that is short acting they no longer make it in long acting formulation, if you could post what milligram of Opana the doctor has offered to put you on then we'd have an idea and be able to compare.
