My doc says fibro.,but I don't have muscle pain like you guys describe.I have severe pain and bruisy feeling pain everywhere but especially in my elbows. They hurt so bad some days that I can't even stand to be touched there.I have to lay with pillows around me sometimes.Do you agree with my doc or should I get second opinion?
Since Fibro is hard to diagnose I feel it is your right to get a second opinion even if another doctor ends up agreeing with the doctor you have now.
What tests were run on you?
Were any epidural blocks of any type done?
If so, what where they?
Have you had a bone density test, an MRI, or other tests like this?
That would help to give you any type of diagnosis. I'm not a doctor, nurse, or professional. I'm just another chronic pain patient who suffers from RSD aka Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and have for 11 1/2yrs.
If you have had any of the above tests done, it would be helpful to share that information with us.
Can you describe elbow pain? Is it a burning sensation? Does it hurt to be touched all over your body? If someone gave you a big hug would that hurt?
Do you have sore spots on your body, such as muscle knots in your deltoid muscles? Or around upper butt area? Give us more info about your pain.
And def get a second opinion!!!
I got diagnosed with fibro about 15 years ago by symptoms only, am unaware of diagnostic tests for it. There are points on the body, at least eleven maybe thirteen, dr presses on them, u scream. i had persistant low grade fever, insomnia, depression, extreme anxiety, soreness, muscle spasms, joint pain, headaches, felt like i had the flu, fatigue and bad weather it is worse. it can flare and sometimes i am fine. It can follow a serious illness or injury. Mine responds somewhat to antidepressants and benzos. have 2 b careful with benzos, they can b habit forming. would b good idea to have 2nd opinion. pattishan
Hey guys! Thanks for all the info. The only testing my doctor did was a MRI and blood work and listened to my symptoms.I get pain at different times in different parts of my body.mostly it is a deep bruising pain especially in my elbows. Here lately I have had a lot of pain in my lower back and hips.Like someone is trying to gouge my hip out with their bare hands. That is why my doctor did the MRI.He thought I might have sciatica, but the MRI showed no signs. He did say there was significant inflammation and a little deterioration in my lower back, but he doesn't know why. After listening to my other symptoms which also included tiredness, weakness and achiness and tossing and turning instead of sleeping,he suggested that it could be fibromyalgia.I did go to a different doctor, but he just brushed me off and said there was no such thing. It was just something docs made up for when they don't know what else it is.I will go to another doctor.
