"There are no data on the excretion of omeprazole (Prilosec) into human milk
The manufacturer recommends that due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother."
How bad is the heartburn?
There are safer medicines called antacids that you can take while breastfeeding.
You may be best to try these first. Talk to your pharmacist for advice.
If the heartburn is unbearable, and the antacids are ineffective, you may need to stop nursing temporarily.
(You could express milk to keep milk production going)
