what i really need to know is if there is any medication one can take in order to control the hypoglycemia. i understand that diet does play an important part in the sugar.

The problem is that at 2am i wake her to read her sugar and if too low needs to have something to eat to make sure her sugar level does not drop

i want to thank you most sincerely for taking the trouble of replying to my questions. from your experience, can this condition right itself or is this something she would have to live with for the rest of her life. she has had a mri scan, nuclear scan, numerous blood tests etc and nothing i.e. tumors, lesions have been detected, so what happens to her sugar?????

There arent any medications to prevent hypoglycemia. You daughter needs to become intimately familiar with the warning signs:dizziness, sweating, jittery feelings, headache, hunger etc. She needs to be sure to eat a well balanced diet with plenty of protein to sustain the blood sugar. Carbs will spike the blood sugar but then you usually have the body follow with a rush of insulin which counteracts that carb influx and can make the sugar then drop even more so anytime she eats carbs she needs to add a protein source which can help keep the blood sugar steadier because proteins dont burn off as fast as carbs. Fats are important too in the fight against hypoglycemia. You might consider talking to a registered dietician to help you understand how foods affect the body and to learn how to eat to prevent hypoglycemia. Diet is the best way to treat hypoglycemia. If she does have a bad episode while out somewhere where food is not readily available, she should carry a sugar source with her like hard candies or she can carry glucose tabs from the pharmacy, just in case she has symptoms and needs a quick sugar source.

Unfortunately, no there are not any meds to treat hypoglycemia. The only real way to approach it is through diet. If she is crashing during the night I would suggest a high protein snack at bedtime and hopefully that will get her through the night. Again, you might want to talk to a dietician for help in what to give her to help keep her levels consistant.
