Sometimes you can mask the sounds caused by tinnitus by using competing sounds, such as low-level music, ticking clocks, etc. Tinnitus is usually more noticeable when you go to bed at night because your surroundings are quieter. Try using a humidifier or radio at a low volume to mask the tinnitus and make it less irritating. Stress and anxiety can worsen the effects of tinnitus; try learning relaxation techniques. Alcohol, smoking, and caffiene can also worsen tinnitus. Finally, some people report that if you sleep with your head propped up in an elevated position, you lessen head congestion which makes noises less noticable. Hope this helps.
