hes seeing a pediatrician in april, in the meantime i wanted to know what i could give him? the dr said just tylenol, but it doesnt seem to work... he has the aura, tummy aches, he gets the runs, and then the headache which literally makes him ultra sensitive to noise, light, smells etc. i have suffered from migraines since i was 14.
I would recommend making an appointment with a Neurologist. A Neurologist will be the type of doctor that will be willing to help you and will know more about Migraines. For the meantime I would try anything and everything. Try all the NSAIDS (Non steroid anti inflammatory drugs) suchs as Naproxen Sodium (Advil), Ibuprofen etc.. Remember to try the highest dose that is safe before giving up. I hope this helps and I hope your son gets the help he needs. Good luck to you!
I have always suffered w/ migraines. Try giving him 2 Advil liqui-gels and let him lay in a quiet, dark room. The liqui-gels work so much better and faster than other medicine. For headaches, I think they are the best over the counter. Also, caffeine helps migraines. Coke helps nausea. So try having him drink a little bit of regular Coke with his Advil and it may help some too. FYI, if it has been a really bad headache that has gone on for a while, you may want to continue the Advil for about 12 hours because a bad migraine will often come back when the medicine wears off. This way the Advil will hopefully have taken the swelling out of the blood vessels in the brain and the pressure will be gone when the Advil wears off.
