... have read so much today im torn between treatment or not to treat with lupron. Please help any advise or suggestions will be very helpful. As with any mother i want to do the best i can for my child but if it will harm her more than help her i dont want to put her through the treatment of lupron. thank you shannon
I've never tried lupron, but have heard horrible things about it, not to mention that it doesn't even help with the pain! Plus some insurance won't cover it, and it's extremely expensive! Is she on the pill? That can help suppress the endo, especially when taken continuously with no periods. And then unfortunately, surgery is the only way to treat endo, if the pain gets too uncontrollable.
I'm so sorry to hear your daughter has been diagnosed with endo. I am 25 and was diagnosed few months back but have been suffering since your daughters age,my doc just kept fobbing me off..
But anyway the good thing is that she is diagnosed now at a young age, although i know she must be going through so much, its so hard, but at least it was caught early on.
My advice to you is to keep her away from the hormone injections,if you can,if the doc that diagnosed advised other methods to try-try them ALL first,i'm saying this because i have been on many birth control pills for my period and depo provera shot and none of them worked. After having a laparascopy to remove the endo few months back,my gynecologist put me on decapeptyl injection to stop my period and put me into menopausal state, that was 6weeks ago and i'm counting down the hrs, never mind days til i've finished,i had very bad side effects to it,extra pain, sickness, hot flushes,my head thinks its gonna explode and my hormones are dancin crazy like yo yo's,LOL..
I'm not telling you all this to frighten you love, its just my experience, others have found the shots great, but i just wont be going that road ina hurry again.
You're daughter is very young, hate seeing or hearing anyone in pain, especially endo, but she does'nt need the extra effects she MIGHT suffer from these hormones.. Just my opinion, hope you and your daughter find relief soon,i know how upsetting it must be on you also seeing her suffer!
