I'm not sure I understand your question. Could you elaborate about the type of muscle relaxer you're talking about? What is the dosage? Do you have a current prescription? What are your symptoms? The best/most effective muscle relaxer I've taken is Zanaflex, or Tizanidine (spelling?).
Yes, a muscle relaxer can work on tight, or cramping muscles even if you've had an injury nine years ago. They do not need to be prescribed right away, right after an injury to work effectively.
Rad Angel brings up valid questions, what muscle relaxer are you talking about and how old is the muscle relaxer, is it nine years old? IF so do NOT use it!
