had a stem cell transplant 10 years ago relapes 2 and half years ago... treated with revlimid 1 year ago had big leision in my leg switched treatment to valcade. No sign of cancer they are thinking of taking me off tretment
I, too, have multiple myeloma diagnosed in 2004. It started in my ribs and had resection of the 6,7 and 8th ribs. A month later I formed a lesion in my right humerus and my left femur. I had 23 radiation treatments on the arm and leg, then started taking thalidomide with dex. I took that for 10 months and when the thalidomide started causing seizures, I was switched to Velcade along with Decadron. In 10 months all of my testing (x-rays, ct, blood work, urinalysis and bone marrow biopsy) showed no signs of cancer and I was taken off of the treatments. I have had no recurrences since then. The only residual effects I have from the MM and thalidomide are peripheral neuropathy and hypogammagobulinemia. I get an infusion of Hizentra once a week to build my immune system up. I still get Zometa IV every three months for bone strengthening. I refused the stem cell transplant and won't consider it unless the MM gets to Stage 4 with kidney involvement. Long story short, I have gone for 7 years with no chemo and I have had no recurrences. Hope this helps.
