Mucinex - I have a very severe cold and cough that has been lasting for upwards of three weeks now.?
Added 21 Jan 2015:
Went to my doctor and he told me to take Mucinex D. This works great for nasal congestion and everything, but my cough is killing me. Because the only common ingredient between Mucinex D and DM is an expectorant, would it be okay to take DM in between my D dosages?
Hi genevieve. Don't know when you seen the doctor or where you live but this is a real bad year for so many..if its been more than 2 weeks i would go back to the doctor... But to answer your question do not take both..the Mucinex DM would be much beter at bedtime or if you home and you have to remember to take a full glass of water the DM has a cough suppressent in it plus the same expectorant as the one your taking if you cough is not productive i would go back to doctor before you end up with god know what no matter what you do drink lots of water between doses and when you take it. but if you can still feel lots of junk in your lungs and nothing is coming up this is not working Call the doctor Hope you get to feeling better soon...
3 weeks is too long for a viral illness, and you should see your dr again as chuck says. If he thinks you need dm too, then do it.
