My Mother has Mysthenia Gravis and has had it for over 35 years. In the past, she would get Mestinon from the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. This is where Dr. J. Edward Tether, MD did his research on Myasthenia Gravis. She was a patient of his back in the 1970's. In recent years, it has become harder and harder for her to get her medication. When she is able to get it, it is in small quantities at a very high price. She is 74 years old and on a set income. Please advise.
I have taken the generic pyridostigmine BR 60mg for many years and could never tell the difference from Mestinon, which I started with 23 years ago. I am now down to one 60mg 3X daily and it is well controlled. The generic is not very expensive, I have Medicare Part D and a 90 day prescription is very reasonable. Hope this helps I have no problem at all in getting the generic.
