My mother has been using amlodipine besylate for high blood pressure. She no longer has insurance and is unable to get a prescription for this. Does anybody know what she can take as a alternative??
There are many High Blood Pressure meds. Only her doctor will know what is the right option for her. I too take Amlodipine besylate, I checked my last refill, without insurance it would have cost me $43 for one month. Talk to her doctor, sometimes the drug company will help her with the cost. Is she over 65?
Check with the pharmaceutical company that makes Norvasc (amlodipine). Often pharmaceutical manufacturers have programs for people who need their medication and can't afford it.
Also, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart pharmacies all have prescription programs where you can get generics really inexpensively. My local CVS did this for me when I was paying for prescription for a homeless friend (she wasn't related to me so not on my insurance.)
Good luck to you and your mother. For those of us with high blood pressure, these medications are literally a lifeline.
