Percocet is oxycodone mixed with acetaminophen. Oxy-whether you are referring to oxycodone or time released OxyContin, is just oxycodone by itself. You can get into higher dosages with just oxycodone. Taking a combo drug restricts your dose due to the acetaminophen in the combo drug. Taking high amounts of acetaminophen is toxic to the liver. Oxycodone is very addictive no matter which form you choose. One form is just as addictive as the other.
Oxycodone and percocet is the same drug. Oxycontin which is a time released form of oxycodone is supposedly more addictive than oxycontin plain. Either way they are an opiate drug which means that they up regulate meaning a person will need to take more and more of the drug to achieve the same affect over time. This is because the body makes more receptor sites causing you to need more and more to occupy these receptor sites. Hope this answered your question...
