How can I get this for three months in a row... do I need to throw away the green inactive pills and go ahead with a new pack? When I'm in the 3rd pack (before my period) do I need to take the green pills or not? I'm coming from Italy and over there we have only the birth control of 21 pills not 28 but I always did 3 months in a row.
If you want a period only every three months then you would go from the third week right to a new pack then after the three packs take the inactive pills (or not, but give yourself a week off the hormones) The fourth week's Pills are inactive Pills with no hormone. They are designed to get women in the habit of taking a Pill every day. You dont have to take them. If you are already in the habit of the three week cycle without getting confused as to where you are then you should be fine not taking them. You may want to ask your GYN if it is ok for you to do this so he/she can order your Pills that way so that you dont run into trouble with your insurance company denying refills because it is too early (if they expect that you are on a four week cycle, instead you are taking a three week cycle, you will come up short)
