Hi, I had protected sex Monday the 16th the last day of my active pills. I took my first placebo pill early Tuesday the 17th and have continued to take my sugar pills. I've read that you are protected the whole seven days of placebos and I'm just looking for closure so I do not stress out.
If you have taken all of your active pills correctly then you are protected even on your placebos. Birth control pills suppress ovulation, if there is no egg released there can be no baby! No worries! Just take your pills correctly and you have nothing to worry about. Most "accidental" pregnancies that occur when someone is on the Pill is from "user error" meaning they were late or erratic in taking them-they should be taken close to the same time each day. Another is not using back up protection when one is taking antibiotics. As long as you follow the directions always, you have very low risk of accidental pregnancy.
