... never had a yeast infection before but I read the symptoms online aND it sounds like that's what I have. I took the monistat 1 today. Could this have been caused by having sex? I haven't been on any antibiotics or anything. Should my partner get treated as well?
Sounds like it could be thrush or a urine infection, both are easily treated and very common. If the area that is itchy is very red and swollen, likely thrush. If it burns when you pee, possibly urine infection. There is over the counter cream and tablet for thrush, you will need antibiotics if its a urine infection. Both things can be caused by sex. This doesn't mean it's an sti though. Even babies get thrush! To help prevent urine infections, always go to the toilet after sex. Everytime. Urine is sterile, and helps to flush out any skin cell debris, etc, caused by friction during sex. Only treat your partner if they develop symptoms, especially when not 100% sure on which problem it is. If sex is a new experience, this can happen occasionally until your body adjusts. All the best :)
