... have been applying the cream as directed. The burning stopped, but I still itch after reapplying the ointment. How do I know if it will work, or is working? I need it gone by Thursday! (Day 5/6) It is my.first infection.
DO NOT DOUCHE EVER EVER unless a Dr tells you to do so. Douching is very bad for you as it upsets the pH balance and changes the balance of "good" vs "bad" bacteria within the vagina. Monostat 1 can still be working up to a week after it is put in. Some of the cream may leak out when it becomes body temperature and liquifies. This is okay, enough stayed in to work. Douching will just mess you up! Never ever douche-any kind of douche, medicated or not unless your gynecologist tells you to do so (and rarely will they ever tell you to do so) If after a week is past and you are still having itching and discharge, see your gynecologist for further treatment. It may be something other than a yeast infection (Monostat doesnt work against bacterial infections and some infections can involve more than one organism) or you may just need a second treatment or an oral pill to completely eradicate the infection.
