I asked them to take her off all these meds but they won't. I suggested a mild sleep aid. Still give her those drugs. Just arrived in nursing home and she's become someone I don't know from this. She couldn't tolerate anesthesia either. For months after surgeries she had panic attacks, confusion and this was 10 years ago. Aspirin used to make her sleepy. She's also on Cymbalta from years ago. I think they just want to control her in the nursing home.
can you talk to an administrator or charge nurse, or her Dr. to try to reduce the dosages? She can't just stop Ativan or cymbalta-I do not understand why Dr.'s just keep prescribing these dangerous meds-mine has given them to me for over 10 years ativan, effexor without ever checking on reducing dosage--just tells me to be careful they are addicting and hands me another prescription-scary what they do to us older people-maybe it is to keep us quiet-although I am not in a nursing home-but be careful they don't just stop these meds that they taper off-just stopping is horrible bad withdrawal
