The doc doesn't answer calls to renew rx
If she still has symptoms from GERD or acid reflus, she can get some over the counter Prilosec or even the store brand omeperazole and take it until she can get to a gastro dr. Yes, I agree with Kaismom, she need to see a gastro dr. I also did read recently, that treating with antibiotics for h. Pylori, is not suggested for anyone over 55, not sure why or how accurate it is, but I read it on a news online thing. Raise the head of her bed with blocks under the frame to about 6 inches higher, so when she sleeps, the acid can't climb up as high in the GI tract. If she is over weight in the tummy area, losing weight will help as will quitting smoking if she smokes. I am in the same boat as your mom and due to a major malfunction in my work insurance, I now have to wait until July 1 or later for the tests and scopes my gastro dr wants to do. I found out about the mess up with the insurance when I got to his office.
