im currently taking 2 mg of Xanax for gad and just for prescrip Tylenol 3 for a tooth ache is it ok to take then together
Well you should be fine as long as you take as prescribed, especially if you are use too taking the xanax, but if you arent use too taking xanax and an opiate toghether you may want to cut down your xanax by one or your pain med by one, just to e on the safeside goodluck my friend
It is best not to take them at the same time. Space the doses at least and hour or two apart, for instance, if you normally take your Xanax at 7 am, wait until 9am to take a dose of Tylenol #3 or vice versa. You may notice an increase in drowsiness while taking both meds. They both supress the central nervous system and each drug enhances the other which brings the need for caution. do not drive or operate machinery until you know how taking the meds together is going to affect you.
Yes professionally I agree with the response about spacing the narcotic and benzodiazepine apart. Physicians are constantly warned about these two classes (of drugs) being prescribed together. Unfortunately it opens the door for legal recourse. So while you will likely be told to space out or avoid taking them both, to protect you and more likely the licensed medical professional, generally speaking if you have a tolerance to Xanax and take a T3 Short-term you are probably fine. Both prescribing physicians should also be given full disclosure also.
Too often we don't tell all our meds or you look healthy and it isn't addressed. There is a relationship with your doc, and they need to know how you are taking the meds.
As a side note, since you require 2mg of Xanax for effective result you may want to ask your doc about trying Klonopin at night to help reduce anxiety. It may lessen your need for Xanax. I am in the same boat, I take 0.75 mg of alprazolam, when I started it was only 0.25 mg. I also need Vicodin for back problems, and have not had problems taking these together, but everyone is different. Good luck!
