... I'm a paranoid freak about mixing medications. The info that came with the Opana ER is really scary (specifically the breathing stuff, where u can ultimately die or go into coma). I'm currently also taking Norco 5/325 for bt pain, and Amitriptyline 25mg at night. All 3 can cause depressed breathing I believe. Anybody else taking mixes like this? My pharmacist seemed to think it was pretty standard for people in chronic pain
While there is the potential for central nervous system and respiratory depression, as long as you are taking the medications as prescribed you should be fine. Being on a continuous release med like Opana ER with a break thru med like norco is pretty common and adding the amitriptyline at a low dose at night is helping you sleep, helping to reduce pain and helps with depression. Like I said, taken as prescribed and you'll be fine.
I take Opana ER I have been on other medicines before Februaru bit at that time we had approx 7 inches of snow with lots of Ice I caught a fall which added to my pain the previous medicine I was on no longer worked so my doctor decided Opana ER along with my other medications might work for me I hope it makes you feel some better but I take not the same medicines you do but medicines that have the potential to slow respirations I also had complications with an infection and had to be hospitalized, I was on 3 40mg Opana E.R. tablets, things have changed and I am on the 40mg dose I think as long as your doctor is aware of what is being taken then I think things are safer, I wish you the very best and I hope it helps to know you are not alone!
I totaly agree with you about being paranoid. I'm on alot of meds, and hate getting put on a new one. I have Asthma so am very afraid of meds that affect respitory. I'm on Dilaudid, Kolonipin, Lexapro, and Xanax all which have warnings for respitory problems, but my Dr and pharmacist insist it's ok. I only notice a differance if I take too much. So I think you will be just fine. If you have anymore questions don't hesatate to ask. You will find many kind and informative people on here.
