My dog has Lyme disease and has only 25% of her kidneys and she's not eating so he gave me mirtazapine for her to get her appetite back. Will this help with that?
I personally take this medicine brand - Remeron and have been on it for 8 1/2 yrs. It is prescribed for PTSD and Depression. I have noticed no weight gain at all related to this med.
Possibly the vet is thinking if the dog felt better, she would eat better, just a guesstamation on my part.
I didn't notice anything related to appetite when I took 30mg for 8 months for insomnia + depression. But I was trying hard to control my diet those days. After stopping all medication for 3 months I tried 7.5mg one night. I just couldn't stop eating next day. Makes me nervous about wanting to try it again for insomnia.
