i have had my period ever since then it is sometimes like a normal period but other times it is light. I have not experienced any other effects but i was wondering if me having my period for 3 and a 1/2 weeks is normal?
Yes, it is. For me it was like heavy spotting all the time. I'm two months in now and I haven't had any spotting at all lately. It got lighter and lighter and now there's nothing. I assume I'm going to have a regular cycle but haven't had Mirena in long enough to know for sure.
I had a Mirena put in about 5 years ago. Mine never worked right and I continued to have periods every month and my PMS was actually worse. Then, when I had it in about 6 months, I went to the bathroom and hemoraged about a pint of blood in the toilet. I immediatly called my Gynocologist and he saw me the same day. My Mirena fell out, and I hemoraged for about 2 weeks and needed a blood tranfusion. So, be careful. Sometimes husband and I have rough "activities" and this might of what caused it to come out. my dr said that had never happend before and he refused to put another one back in. So, it can fall out and sometimes and your periods never go away, although they are supposed to be VERY light of non existant. But, BE CAREFUL, its not always in as good as you think. But, I think your periods are normal for this.
I had a light period that lasted the whole 6 months and never went away, and I asked my dr and he said sometimes it can take a while for your body to adjust and he said that some women never have no periods. Having a period for 3 1/2 weeks is normal until your body gets used to the hormones. I wouldn't go another 2 weeks without calling your dr though.. good luck
