I got the Mirena inserted 2 weeks ago yesterday. I haven't stopped bleeding. When does it stop?
hello. I have found out you can bleed anywhere from 3-6 months and it can be unusual. I have had a Mirena for over 2 weeks now and it can also cause other things like mood swings, breast tenderness, headaches and sometimes vision problems at times too. But eventually all that stuff will go away so don't be afraid. Everyone is different and all you got to do is ask your doctor about it. My advice is if can just stick with it, it will be worth it.
I had my IUD put in 3 weeks ago and am still bleeding. I got the IUD because it is the only form of birth control I can use because I have a bleeding condition and am on blood thinners. I always have had extremely heavy periods and this was supposed to help reduce the bleeding so I could have a period like a normal person. Although I have been bleeding for three weeks and my Dr says it could last up to 6 mos. I can deal with it. I have switched between panty liners and the occasional tampon but with no complaints about the bleeding. I prefer it over what I was dealing with. My only complaint is the decrease in my sex drive because the one time we tried to have sex was painful but we have chalked it up to the fact that my Dr had to push through 3 cm of scar tissue outside my cervix. The bleeding is normal and nothing to worry about. If you are concerned, give your Dr a call.
