I had Mirena IUD inserted 10 months ago. Doctor suguested it because of heavy periods, but it has not helped at all. Should I wait longer to see if it will help, or should I have it removed? Is it a difficult process to remove it?
Is the only reason that you have the Mirena because of heavy periods or is it also for birth control? I was also prescribed a few different birth controls (not at the same time) for heavy periods and none of them ever helped and I also had to deal with many side effects like weight gain. So I decided to go without and just deal with it... which sucks by the way but if its not working and you dont need it for birth control I personally would have it removed. If it hasnt shown you any difference after the first 3 months its probably not going to. Either way at some point you will have to have it removed so why not just get it over with.
