Just had Mirena put in 3 days ago. Not too painful, just uncomfortable. The cramps have been awful ever since! No bleeding, spotting, just bad cramps. Had been on Depo for 18 years and have 2 grown kids (both vaginal births). Granted, I haven't had period cramps in a long time, but I don't remember them being this bad! I can't continue to miss work and be flat with the hot pad for so many days. Will it end soon? Maybe staying on Depo wouldn't have been so bad. Doc said that it was working against me at age 46, as far as weight and bone density issues. I figured the bonus of not having periods and mirena lasting 5 years, that it would take me right into menopause. So far though, these cramps are making me second guess my decision.
I was told by my gyno to expect the cramps to last 2-3 weeks. I got mine put in 3 and a half weeks ago and I cramp a little on somedays still depending on how stressed I am that day. I am still lightly bleeding but that I can cope with. I know your pain and from what my friends who have it told me it doesn't last to long. Not sure if this helps but thought a response would be good for you from someone who also has it.
Hope you feel better soon!
