2 very heavy periods in the last month with lots of clotting and very uncomfortable lower back pain, each lasting about 3/4 days, a week apart. My periods the last 4 yrs have been very light, usually lasting 2 days with no clotting or pain. Any ideas of what could be going on before I consult my doctor?
Do you have the 5 year Mirena? If so you are getting close to time for removal. Also have you checked the position of the strings? If you can't feel at least 1 inch of the strings at the cervix it could have slipped or has changed positions. Two years into having mine that's what happened to me. It moved and embedded into the side of my uterus. I ended up in the ER with heavy bleeding and a bad infection. They had to remove it right there in the ER and pulling out of the uterine wall was very painful. At least I was at the ER tho where they could hook me up to pain relief. When they remove it at your doctor's office that's not the case. I think it can't hurt to at least go in to your doctor's office and have them check the placement. It may have just shifted and they can fix it so you can get the last year out of it. I was pretty mad when I went through the pain of having it put in and had to have it taken out only 2 years in. Good luck to you, I hope all goes well.
