My doctor prescribed me minocycline after a bad breakout of cystic acne in my right and left jawline never had broken out so bad specially with cystic acne. It's been 2 months and my cystic acne hasn't improved and I've been on minocycline for 2 weeks now. It's itchy and can't stand it anymore. They also gave me ortha tri cyclen lo as birth control pills. Did I mention I have always suffered of acne since I was 15 I'm 23 now and it's a lot worse.
How many mgs. are you taking and how many per day?
As you know cystic acne is one of the hardest to control, as I believe through research, in some people acne can become chronic and it can ruin one´s self steem. I am not in the USA, and in the past, in my youth, I suffer from cystic acne and I remember taking Accutane which is Isotretinoin and it helped very much, I believe it is discontinued in the US due to it´s possible side effects. If you can ask your Dermatologist about this medication it is worth a try, acne will get worse before one sees an improvement, well I saw and lived that improvement, I am 46 y/o and never had to battle woith this condition anymore... best of luck.
