perfumes, air fresheners, candle smells, cleaning products and cigarette smoke gives me a instant migraine. I have to isolate myself and not go places because I know that there will be smells there and I will get a migraine. People know but, I don't think they believe that smells really give me a migraine and they still spray perfumes, burn candles, use cleaning products and smoke around me. I ask my doctor is I can do anything so I wouldn't be so sensitive, it has taken over my life. The doctor said " no, you have to live with it." I feel so isolated, does anyone else have this problem?
I have been getting migraines for 30 years and I'm seeing a neurologist.I think that you are "Sensitive".I know that I get them at times when I'm in moldy places and when I eat certain foods and when the weather changes..Are you seeing a doctor to manage the headaches with meds?It sounds like you are.I wish you luck. It's very frustrating.M
I have lived with Migraine since at least 41 years ago. Now I am 46 years old. You should know that Migraine has no treatment. You have to prevent its attack by not to be exposed to materials which you are sensitive to, avoiding stress, sleeping enough, avoiding medicines, foods and drinks ... which are Migraine triggers (for example in my case: perfume, cacao, coffee), exercising every day, using Inderal (propranolol) as you needed after asking you doctor. Inderal prevents migraine attack and also removes the signs of anxiety which helps you to be more relax. In case of Migraine attack the best medicine that I found so far to overcome the attack is Diclofenac suppository (100 mg) talk to your doctor about this medicine. Migraine is a part of my life and I try to control it but sometimes it is unavoidable because nobody can stop people using perfume and I cannot isolate myself as well. The best way is to compromise with Migraine. I am not as sensitive as you are to smells but you should not give up, instead try to accept and manage it. Feel free to ask me about my experience concerning to Migraine.
