Finally got a call back from the neurologist and thank God I don't have to go to the ER because my head would explode. They told me to take promethazine and benadryl with Tylenol. And go in for a IV treatment tomorrow.
Have you tried caffeine? Like km said, you've probably done everything but it's the only thing I could think of. But, the 'stroke like symptoms' are very worrisome indeed! I hope you try the ER.
Do you have an Internist or a GP that could give you a shot? Sometimes that will stop a migraine in it's tracks.
Could a massage help or would it just aggravate your head?
Wishing you relief,
I had a migraine like that last month, five days of hell. My regular protocol did not work. When I finally got to the neurologist I actually got yelled at. I was supposed to call her emergency number. I never knew this before. She was new and I never called my old neurologist because this had never happened previously. He retired, BTW.
Net result, they gave me an infusion, IV, that killed the migraine. She said something about your brain gets into a cycle/loop after a bit and they have to take drastic action to stop it. The IV included some steroids so I blew up like a ballon for a week, but I felt much better in 2 hours.
You might consider calling your neurologist's service as an emergency. They may offer the same thing. I was pretty close to asking someone to shoot me in the head. No I was not talking dying/suicide, just wanting the pain to stop. It did sound like to someone I talked to, but it was just the pain. I had to call them back later to explain.
