I am also on my inactive week and I'm planning on having sex soon. Should I take an active pill the morning after I have sex?
A woman who takes oral contraceptives (birth control pills) is about 98-99% protected when she takes them correctly meaning every day at roughly the same time of day. You are protected even on your inactive pill week. You do not have to alter the time you take your tablet because you had sex. Just keep taking your pills at the allotted time each day and you will have a 1-2% chance of pregnancy. No birth control method other than abstinence is 100% effective. Oral contraceptives work by preventing ovulation. If no egg is released there can be no baby no matter how many sperm are present.
