... taking the 7 day breaks, in order to skip my period. The last week i have been getting brown spotting and what seems to be menstrual cramps. I am 2 days into a new pack, should i stop and allow myself to have a period?
You aren't supposed to keep taking it month after month, stopping your period. Once or twice a year is the only way you should do that. Since you just started the pack, I would call my doc and ask today. You are generally supposed to keep in the cycle no matter what bleeding is going on, but in this case I'm not sure.
I would keep taking the pack but after the 21 days of active pills, give your body the break and allow a period to come then. You can expect a heavier, longer period than normal because you have been suppressing it. You CANNOT keep doing this-it is ok to do so once or twice a year for special occasions but other than that you should take the week break each month.
