I started taking Microgestin 1/20 on February 12, 2012 and all of sudden I miss a period. I was suppose to start March 1st, 2012 and I never did. I was just wondering if it's possible to miss a period before finishing the very first pack. It is now almost March 5th, almost 5 days late. What should I do??
Did you not wait until your period to start the Pill? Usually they have you start birth control pills on the first day of your period or the first Sunday after you start. If you started mid cycle, it can most definitely throw off your cycle. You are supposed to take thePill for three weeks then the fourth week are "reminder" pills that do not have any active ingredient. It is during this week that you are to have your period. If you started taking the Pill Feb 12, you'll not be due for a period until around March 11th. You will start cycling with the cycle of the birth control pills. Keep in mind that often womens cycles are not regular when you first start taking the Pill. It takes a few months for the cycle to regulate. You should be using a back up method when you first start the Pill, starting mid cycle, I would recommend back up for the whole first pack. Keep taking your Pills as they are in the pack, one Pill each day no matter if you are bleeding or not. If you go two cycles without a period then you should test for pregnancy and notify your Dr.
