... prescribed 80mg of Micardis twice daily but am unsure if this is too much.
Can you advise me please?
The recommended starting dosage of Micardis for most people with high blood pressure (hypertension) is Micardis 40mg once a day. Based on the blood pressure response and/or Micardis side effects, the dosage may be increased or decreased. With each change in dosage, it may take several weeks to see the full effects of Micardis on lowering blood pressure.
If you have moderate to severe liver disease (such as cirrhosis), gallstones, or other gallbladder problems, your body may metabolize Micardis differently than intended. Therefore, the doc/pharmacist may start you on a lower dose of Micardis and monitor your situation more closely.
Would recommend to seek a second opinion so that you are doubly sure of the dosage, take care & be well & safe.
