Can metronidazol be used for a UTI?

Check with your doctor. Each UTI can be different. Lab test is needed.

No. It is very unlikely. The majority of UTI's are caused by E. coli which will not be affected by metronidazole. Metronidazole is for certain kinds of bacterias or protozoans that rarely infect the bladder. You will need to see your Dr for a urine culture to determine the bacteria or he may just put you on a general broad spectrum antibiotic.
