Is it advisable for her new doctor to prescribe her Metolazone? How risky is it for her to begin taking Metolazone if she has Lupus SLE and allergic to sulfa based drugs?
No that isn't a safe combination--- even the medication warning says not to take if one has a sulfa allergy. You should check with the prescribing doctor to see if something else can be prescribed. If they're unwilling then it would likely be a good idea to seek a second opinion. It's not a good idea to mix heart medication and allergic reaction- it's a good thing you're so on top of this!
