why do ppl abuse methadone if it doesnt give you a high?
ignorance mostly and some are new to opiates and don't really know what they are doing. Heroin addicts use methadone if they can't get their shot. It keeps the cravings and withdrawals at bay until they get their shot. If they use to soon they end up wasting the heroin as the methadone blocks it... Dave
Methadone can give you a high and in fact many people who abuse drugs prefer Methadone. They can inject it or take a higher dose than is recommended (Which can be fatal and lead to death.) to get high. It all depends on the person and how they metabolize the drug. So to recap it can give you a high if you abuse it in such a way that it gives you a rush. I hope this helps!
absolutely can give you a high. I was on it for 17 months but a low dose of 60mg, i have seen people as high as 240mg. if you mix other drugs and believe it or not a beverage(i wont mention) it intensifies its effect. I have seen hundreds of people high on methadone and abuse it. In my city it is one of the highest abused drug outside of oxycontins and it is a very dangerous drugs because it stays in your system for so long. Dont let anyone tell you diffrent methadone causes a high especailly for intolerant people and for tolerant people they can add thing or increase their dose to abuse it. if used properly it helps with cravings and if you use on top of it u dont feel the rush of drugs like heroin or oxys and can be a good tool but like anything people abuse it and ruin it for others. For people on it for months and use it properly u dont feel high like heroin or oxys it just helps with tthe cravings but once u stop it with out a taper its a long withdrawal process.
I wish I had a magic wand that would take away all the doctors that give people any habit forming drug. I personally am going into rehab Sunday for Methadone abuse. I am not proud. I was doing fine for five years and one day last week decided to go to the doctor and get Soma. It made me so crazy, I picked up a hitch-hiker and she turned out to be something I would rather not get into. Teach your son to stay away from pills, drugs, anything. And I mean anything. No matter how hard it may seem now, he will appreciate it in the long run. I know my life is going to be a living hell for the next year, but if it gets me off of the notion I have to have a pill to survive, so be it. My heart hurts for you and if have to admit me too. I am not looking forward to living in pain. I have had two major back surgeries, that's what started this whole mess. Do what you can and pray for the rest. I wish you all the best and then some... I will pray for him and me... kimmie1
