I've always known I was different, I went through 4 years of high school with only 4 periods..after turning 21, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was put on Metformin 500mg X2 a day, with really no results, so my Dr. raised my dosage to 1000-1500mg (can't remember, whoops!) X2 a day. The very first day I started the higher dosage, I spent all night puking and sitting on the toilet. I've been on the higher stuff for about a month and a half, and it just seems like I still have the runs, no appetite, and I just feel super bloated..will the symptoms ever stop?! Thanks so much in advance for your replies :)
Thanks for sharing your experience while taking Metformin. I too am taking metformin for PCOS and I gradually worked my way up to the full 2000mg a day. Started with 1/2 pill increments weekly and now I take 2 pills twice daily. This may be something you will want to look into with your doctor, or ask your doctor about the Extended Release option. Be sure to always take your medication MID meal. Not before or after, always mid meal - this has helped cut down my bathroom trips to 1 per day instead of many! There are days I have worse reactions to my Metformin and it all comes down to what I have eaten.
All the best with your PCOS journey, talk to your doctor and find a good plan that works BEST for you.
