Take metformin with a meal, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Some forms of metformin are taken only once daily with the evening meal. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Lisinopril can be taken with or without food.

You take metformin with food to prevent stomach upset, nausea and diarreaha. If you don't suffer from any of that, you can try taking metformin without food. I do- find it easier to remember to take it first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Take lisiniprol with the metformin in the morning and never had a problem
