They will also be doing a rectocil at the same time. I know I will have to stay in the hospital over night. Recovery time is my concern.
OUCH! Having fibro, I think your recovery time at home will be a bit longer as we fibro patients seem to feel evry little thing so much more. Be sure to check out your pospitals rate of staph or MRSA before your surgery. I had a prolasped urethea, & the doctors wasy of fixing it was to put me on bedrest for a week with added percocet to my already array of meds. This did nothing, so I started using my estrogen which finally did cure it. They tought I was also prolapsing in the other end too, but that was from straining because of taking pain meds to often, so I increased my daily intake of magneisum to 250mg, & it did the trick. I believe if open surgery, you will have to spend the night at least, & maybe 2 days. Depends on the doctor & your insurance. Watch your would very carefully for signs of infection, or fever or anything out of nature, as MRSA can be gotten in surgery very easily these days. Good luck to you & hope haven't scared you out of going. You should discuss the options of using one of your own ligaments insead of a mesh sling. There have been many law suits over using of mesh, as it tends tto infect you from the inside out. I have had much experience with this with my husband, & now my brother who had a hernia repair less than 3 months ago, & got very very ill 2 months later, His scar looked fine, but they drew 600cc of fluid from where the mesh was placed & he had MRSA from a staph obtained while in surgery. I had a hysterectomy years ago, & they just tied me up with my own ligaments. This was before mesh was used, or thought of. There is a class action suit today aout mesh & infections. Hope I didn't scare you to death, & good luckwith your surgery(Better to be informed than not)... Mary
YES DOUBLE OUCH! everything is alway diffrent w/everybody epecially w/fibro,but like mary said, the most important is making sure you do not get an infection or anything along tht line,b/c your immune system is already low,now w/you being put thru the wringer, its going to be tricky, now the recovery time,b/c of the fibro also, our pain receptors(actually all of a fibro person sences are heightened) feel stronger impulses of pain then most people tht dnt have it,with that being said,STRESS! if you cn manage to keep the stress at bay, that will help tremendously,as fibro is aggravated by stress at most. i pray all will go well w/you. GODBLESS
