i have not slept in last 48 hrs... first time tring this med... will it help me sleep?
Hello, a lot of people do have great success with this medication. There is no reason it won't work for you also. However, it may take a little while to kick in, the longer you take it the more effective the medication should be. Just be sure to take the correct dose, and it is really important for your bedroom to be totally blacked out, no light coming in through the curtains, no night lights or even LED lights. Melatonin works so much better if you follow these guidelines
You should ask your sleep neurologist and find out more on your condition. It could very well be Selective sleep disorder or insomnia. But be very careful on how much you take because the side effects are torturing as I have experienced them. Start out with 3mg of "Nature Made" I would not trust normal pharmaceutical brands. Avoid things that could stress you out the night you go to sleep. Also like Delila said make sure your room is pitch black not even your alarm clock light should be facing you. Don't just take melatonin to take it. Make sure it is taken at an appropriate time of night depending on how long it takes for you to fall asleep. Seeing how melatonin is a natural hormone produced by the pineal gland it is a *Supplement* to aid you in getting your circadian rhythm back on track.

Just began trazadone 50 mg for sleep. Took 3.5 hrs to fall asleep and slept lightly. Is this normal?
