My Dr. has perscribed 40 mg of strattera twice a day. When I do this I become a zombie. I just want to sit and do nothing. So, I only that the one 40 mg. pill in the morning. But then my brain works all night. Last night I played or tried to play a game in my sleep all night. I guess I'm asleep, but my brains keeps working. I heard about melatonin and wondered if it would help me and how much I should take.
This question has also been asked and answered here: How much Melatonin can I take?
You should let your doc know you aren't taking it as prescribed and why. You can take melatonin with strattera. You should start with a low dose, like 3 mg and see if it helps. I take a 10mg extended release tablet at night. They make one that is a rapid dissolved so it works faster too.
You need to let the Dr know what the Strattera is doing to you. It doesnt sound like it is the right medicine for you. Your ADD meds should make you focus better not zombie you out. You might have better results with a stimulant. If you have trouble sleeping after taking stimulants, there are medications that are not addictive to help you sleep. The melatonin may help you sleep for now but you still need to talk to your Dr. about the Strattera.
