I've taken 7 1/2 mg. 's of melatonin th' past 4 nights in a row on either an empty stomach, or near an empty stomach, & cant catch a decent nights sleep even if I had a huge butterfly net. I've had insomnia 4 th' past 10-12 years. Is 1 brand of melatonin better than others??? Help!!!
I take a 10 mg extended release melatonin every night. I also take amitriptyline every night. You may not be taking enough melatonin. Is it that you can't get to sleep or you don't stay asleep? I can probably tell you of some sleep (or not sleep ) habits that are keeping you from good sleep too. You have to have the room completely dark, if this means turning the face of your clock down, do it. Have the room cool enough. Always go to bed at the same time each night. No tv or computer 2 hours before bedtime. Try to settle down before bedtime, don't do things that get you over excited. Have a glass of milk before bed. It doesn't have to be warm.
Hi, have you had any medications prescribed during these 10 years plus that you have suffered with insomnia? I have also taken Amitriptyline in the past and found this successful. Maybe discuss with your doctor how prominent this issue is for you and see if he/she will/can help?
