I have always had depression and after a TBI and Surgery I am severly depressed and only leave the house to go to the Dr once a month. I have tried every med there is and Remaron helped me not cry all day but still severly depressed. What do people like me take that helps to relax and and to want to live again?
Hi, NS! Have you ever tried an add-on such as Abilify or Rexulti along with an antidepressant? Or different classes of antidepressants such as SSRI's, SNRI's, TCA's, TTCA's, or atypicals? How about Latuda for bipolar depression? A mood stabilizer such as lithium or Lamictal?
Finding the right combination can be time consuming and frustrating but almost everyone does find it.
Sometimes, combining medications with talk therapy or ECT (electroconvulsant therapy) or TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) can be very beneficial.
Don't give up... it's your depression talking and you have many options to explore. Are you under the care of a qualified psychiatrist or a PCP or GP?
Best regards, Wildcat
I am not going to make any specific recommendations but I have had success with Prozac 30 years ago to the extent that when I thought I was on the wrong med again I knew to ask to go on it again. Prozac is the drug that I finally crossed the plane so to speak and realized than no drug would be a magic bullet or cure all. Get used to the idea of talking about how you feel at given points of time on the med. With that you can more accurately gauge the effects of the med. Hope this helps.
I too have the same thing no matter what i have tried nothing seams to work.I was on vanlafaxine 15 years at 225mg and it was a waste of time hard to get off them though after this prozac another waste and now satalune is it called for anxiety its useless in 3 month now.Does anybody know of a decent antidepresant that i could do with.I know im on amphetamine and the dr says that is the problem but if i didnt feel so low i might not have to take it so anyone anyone
