I have multiple diagnoses. PTSD, OCD, depression, anxiety, binge eating disorder and borderline. I am currently on Effexor 375mg, Zeldox 160mg, coming off of Lamotrigine and I take many meds for sleep and nightmares. My mood is very low and my obsessions are out of Control! What meds have worked for other people for treating OCD? I have not had any relief from my OCD symptoms with the meds im on. Has anyone made an easy transition from effexor to another anti depressant or is it as bad as I've heard?
What are some meds that work in the treatment of OCD and depression?

I work in pharmacy, and two medications that are commonly used for both OCD and depression are Zoloft (sertraline) and Prozac (fluoxetine). They are both SSRIs that help to balance the chemicals in the brain for depression, anxiety, OCD, and other conditions. It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about trying one of these, to see if it helps? Keep in mind, it can take up to 4 weeks to see an improvement in your symptoms but if it works it will be worth the wait!
I wish you the best!
I agree with Lwallace! And remember, transitioning means just that ~ a very gradual reduction of your Effexor dose while gradually increasing your new medication. If this is done slowly enough most people have no problems with it.
Best widhes and good luck! You should be feeling better very soon. WC
