I am tired. I've been through 6 different medications, currently on Prozac 30mg and still have these stupid thoughts in my head all day everyday. Its been 5 months since I first had it and I'm just losing hope.
I won't be able to see my psych for another 5 weeks as he's fully booked out.
Does anyone have suggestions for medication that takes these thoughts away?
Aman; Hope the doctor is telling you that most of these medications can take 1 to 2 weeks where even your symptoms can be worse than normal due to the medication like Prozac then after the 2 weeks these symptoms get better so you have to almost stay on each one of these from 6 to 8 weeks to see if they are going to work for you and even a bit more if they do any dose Increases.Hang in there and try and take the Prozac about the same time each day so you keep a steady blood level. But it sounds like some of them you were not on long enough to really know they do wonders now days for OCD JUST try and hang in there this is the only way they can find the medication is trial and error but you do have to continue with most for at least 6 to 8 weeks to get the full benefits of them and a number of meds you have tried and the time it does not seem like they have given them a good chance.
When you do see the doctor ask about some of the older medications I seen many do wonders on Luvox, and Anilfranil and others in this group of medications. sorry that I can't be of more help believe me I know it is tiring. Chuck1957
Hi again Aman; well you sure have spent enough time on the Prozac, Still possibility of raising the dose if the doctor wants to try that but from what I can remember most had better luck with other medications for OCD. But if it's going to be a while before you see the doctor you might see if the doctor well increases the Prozac to the 40 mg that way you well know prior to seeing him before the 5 weeks waiting period before you can see him or her. hang in there it well gets better and believes me I know this gets old real fast. try and take it day by day and think about seeing if the doctor well increases it could not hurt. Just wanted you to know how many of these medications work this way. have a good evening my friend. Chuck.
You may need to take meds to treat OCD at the upper levels of dosing. Try Effexor. It helped me even at 75mg.
